Day 21: April 27, 2012

Dallas had somewhat of a rough night. His itching is what is bothering him most. He fell asleep around 8pm but was up most of the night. He ended up pulling the dressing off of his ear and picked it until it bled. About 3am he was pretty awake, so he watched television until 6:30am before falling back asleep for a few hours.

We had Dallas playing his angry birds game this morning. Throwing the bean bag birds is helping his range of motion and increasing his strength.

Itching has been very bad today. Nothing is helping him.

We did his dressing change, which he tolerated well until the doctor came in and changed his arm... they didn't do it as slowly as we do, so it hurt him more. To top it off, they had to do blood cultures because his temperature keeps going up, reaching 102, so they had to draw blood. He hated it, it was terrible.

Physical therapy came in and worked with him again. He was able to get up and actually walk around to the side of his bed, it was wonderful to see such progress.

After physical therapy, Dallas was WORN OUT! He's been sleeping for a few hours and his fever keeps creeping up... up to 102.7.

They did another X-ray because of his cough. The doctors are concerned with him developing pneumonia. The X-ray came back showing cloudiness, some fluids are beginning to collect. This really concerns us, as the first sets of X-ray's they did (a few weeks ago) didn't show anything. Hopefully it's nothing.

We should know more on the blood cultures and urine sample tomorrow. Praying everything is alright, no infections. We are also hoping for him to have a good night's rest. Maybe by morning his fever will have broke.
