It's the Little Things that make you SMILE :)

It's so hard to see your child go from being a strong, tough, playful and joyous child, to one who is going through such a difficult struggle. But the little things are what keep us going.

Here is a list of some of the "Little Things" that have brought a smile to our face, and might bring one to yours:

~One day during a dressing change, Dallas looked at a nurse and said "I'm Sexy and I Know it".

~Dallas trying so hard to blow bubbles. He just kept trying and trying. He had so much fun!

~Seeing Dallas' eyes light up when the therapy dog jumped into bed with him

~Any time we mention "Brandy" (Kiana's best friend), Dallas smiles and says "That's my girlfriend"

~Hearing Dallas say "I love you mommy/daddy"

~Dallas giving "hand hugs" (his arm was so sore he couldn't lift it, so he would squeeze our finger, calling it a "hand hug")

~Dallas tricking the physical therapist to get out of physical therapy

~Dallas hitting a balloon to other people

~Dallas sitting up on his own, unsupported

This is just a list of the few, of MANY, things Dallas has said or done that has brought a smile to our face.

There are so many times when we just want to break down, and then Dallas does something so small that you instantly realize just how special he is and how much he continues to improve.

There are peaks and valleys, ups and downs... some days will be better than others... but overall, Dallas is the strongest and toughest person I know. He is my hero... and he is an inspiration to many.

Our hope is that Dallas never thinks he is "different" (in a bad way). Dallas IS different... he is unique... he is special... and he is perfect in his own way. He is a brave little soldier, and with each day that passes, we see him grow stronger, not just in the physical sense, but in spirit as well.
